List of  1300 bird species wre facing extinction, according to BIRD LIFE INTERNATIONAL.een a population decline so frightening, experts say they could vanish off the face of the earth at anytime.


White-bellied Cinclodes
Classification: Critically Endangered
Lives In: The high ranges of the Andes Mountains in Junin, Peru.
Why They're In Trouble: These birds live in the high Andes of Peru, and no other 'suitable' regionhas been found for them to thrive, according to BirdLife.org. As their habitat is ruined by mining, the already small population will continue to suffer.


Black-bellied Puffleg
Classification: Critically Endangered
Lives In: The Northwestern slopes of the Pichincha volcano in Ecuador.
Why They're In Trouble: Agriculture industry and unplanned development continue to chip away at the Puffleg's habitat, according to the SOS organization (Save Our Species), and without a regional effort to reverse the harms to nature, the Puffleg - and other endangered species in the region - they will be lost.


Madagascar Pochard
Classification: Critically Endangered
Lives In: The Lake Alaotra basin in Madagascar.
Why They're In Trouble: Once a common bird in the Lake Alaotra region, there were no sightingsbetween 1991 and 2006, according to Birdlife.org. In 2006 a small group was found north of Lake Alaotra.

Cassification: Critically Endangered
Lives In: Aia, the Middle East, Northern Africa
Why They're In Trouble: Researchers noted a drastic decline in population for reasons no one can explain. However, Birdlife.org says recent studies may have found the population is "bigger than previously feared."


Silvery Wood-pigeon
Classificiation: Critically Endangered
Lives In: Islands off Sumatra, Indonesia
Why They're In Trouble: There were no confirmed sightings of the Silvery Wood-pigeon for more than 75 years. But sightings in 2008, 2009 and 2010 produced the evidence they still exist in the wild. 


Yellow-crested Cockatooo
Classification: Critically Endangered
Lives In: Timor-Leste and Indonesia
Why They're In Trouble: The bird's yellow highlights have made it popular in the bird trade during the last 50 years, contributing to the plummeting population. 




Marquesan Imperial-pigeon
Classification: Endangereed
Lives In: Nuku Hiva of the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia
Why They're In Trouble: Successful conservation efforts helped increase the species population a little, resulting in a classification change from 'critically endangered' to 'endangered' in 2008.


Swift Parrot
Classification: Endangered
Lives In: Tasmania, Australia
Why They're In Trouble: The population of the birds is already small, and their habitat is disappearing.

Masked Finfoot
Classification: Endangered
Lives In: Southeastern Asia
Why They're In Trouble: There are less than 2500 left and their habitat is disappearing.


El Oro Parakeet
Classification: Endangered
Lives In: Ecuador
Why They're In Trouble: These birds live only in the west Andes of Ecuador, so as their habitat is destroyed by deforestation, they food and sites they need to survive are lost.
